News Updates: September 6, 2009

Great weather for a Scenario  - especially one with a ‘TWIST’. We welcomed 6 new players today. Thank you for coming out!  For September’s installment of the Hatfield and McCoy Scenario, the Hatfields (Blue) had 36 players and the McCoys (Gray) had 33 players.

The ‘twists’ for this September’s scenario included zeroing out the points - making only the points obtained today available to be carried through for BIG GAME, and the more comical - both teams were “in such a drunken stupor” after the celebration of last months’ scenario that the teams woke up at eachother’s HOME BASE! The river had run dry, so normal Splatmandu boundaries were in play.

There were five flag stations on the field of play, stealable stills, and a pig on the run!  The battles were concentrated to small portions of the field at a time. With the exception of the Witches’ Chateau, all flag stations were turned by each team numerous times for the 90 minute game.

Captain Chad of the McCoys quickly hunted down the pig - who incidentally had gone RAMBO during his escape, and was held up in the Mine Shaft in the Mine Field - and protected it with the help of Olivia and Eric Crippin until the conclusion of the game, earning the McCoys 10,000 points.

Both teams adopted the strategy to raid the opposing team’s still, and then hide the still parts until close to the end of the game, to deposit the pieces at a flag station they owned. The Hatfields were able to return all four still parts (worth 5,000 points each) from the Grey still to the Witches’ Chateau flag station (owned by Blue), earning their team 20,000 points, while the McCoys were only able to get three of the Blue still parts back to the Hillbilly Hilton (owned by Grey), earning their team 15,000 points

At the conclusion of the game, Blue (Hatfields) controlled the Chateau, Tippmann, and Tee Pee area flag stations, earning them 30,000 points while the Grey (McCoys) controlled the Hilton and the School flag stations for 20,000 points.

Neither team was able to secure their original home base flag station by the conclusion of the 90 minute game, so the chance at re-assembling their original still parts on their bases went unaccomplished and neither team earned the additional 10,000 point bonus for having this completed.

This was a great game and both teams fought hard for the ground they ultimately controlled. You have set yourselves up for a great BIG GAME XIII (to be played out on September 20, 2009).

Team totals leading into BIG GAME XIII:

Hatfields: 50,000

McCoys: 45,000

MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN!!! RULES WILL BE POSTED FOR BIG GAME XIII next week.
